SPLA with John Phibbs led an integrated design and restoration strategy for the Grade I listed Wimpole Estate that brings together heritage, access design and natural flood management, with both capital and revenue projects and expenditure. Working collaboratively with the National Trust and the Farm Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG), we have developed a delivery strategy that supports nature recovery, conserves heritage, and improves visitor facilities and access.

By combining expertise in historic landscapes, design, and soft engineering, the project proposes improved habitats while enhancing the estate’s heritage and visitor experience. The proposals will reopen major lost historic landscape elements including several routes and the lost lake which will also function as for Natural Flood Management and increase biodiversity. Proposals encourage a more balanced distribution of visitors across the site, protect ecologically sensitive areas, and support new veteranisation of trees where historically appropriate.
