SPLA has finalised designs for several areas at Wakehurst Place; Kew’s grade II* ‘Wild Botanic Garden’ in Sussex. During 2024 and 2025 working closely with staff in co-design workshops, our designs include the Carriage Court, the Arrival area, Children and Community Walled Garden and the Water Gardens. Design for The Carriage Court references the 1700s layout while incorporating new requirements, design around existing trees and improved accessibility. The Water gardens are undergoing careful editing and we worked with staff to agree the vision and reinforce the special qualities of each. The Community Walled Gardens see a united design encompassing many of the educational and entertaining activities drawn into a holistic layout enabling its widest reach - in terms of fun, learning and horticultural beauty.
