SPLA provided supportive Project Management for this HLF funded revival, working closely with the Friends. Upminster’s windmill is one of London’s few remaining, and little known London landmarks, and Sally’s project management encouraged funding to be spent on training for specific individuals in windmill restoration techniques, which are rapidly dying out; helping address skills shortages. With expertise and heavy lifting bought in from Holland, the Friends of Upminster Windmill with National Lottery funding have restored this unusual and unique feature to reveal this outer London Borough’s hidden heritage to a wider audience.
