Following four decades of dereliction, our memorialisation of Broomfield House begins a new chapter for both the II* listed but ruined house and historic park. As the central focus within the baroque landscape’s historic core, our designs see the house ruins provide a distinctive new use and aesthetic as a ‘ruin garden’ within the historic walled garden. Working closely with stakeholders and Friends of Broomfield Park we held numerous co-design sessions to devise the masterplan for both house and park, as well as wider engagement events. 

The designs encompass creative use of the sites resources to dredge and restore lakes, create wildflower meadows, suds beds new planting design - all within the context of the historic landscape. Historic vistas to the house, summerhouse and gates -lost for generations will be reconnected. Given the listed status of the derelict house, planning and statutory approvals are onerous. However, the comprehensive and holistic design which is both sensitive to the historic landscape and creative in enabling new uses and access - is likely to receive approval late 2026.
